Volunteering has been part of Camp Verde from the very beginning and is alive and well in the town today. From Volunteers in Policing and the Community Library to the volunteer group, the “Old Guys” who work on special projects around town, and all those who help make Parks and Recreation events successful, our town continues to thrive due to volunteerism today. National Volunteer Week gives us the perfect opportunity to recognize and thank volunteers who lend their time, talent, and heart in so many ways to the Town of Camp Verde. Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Michael Lewis and Department of Public Safety Trooper Thomas Humphrey instructed 13 Law Enforcement Officer students from across the United States at a Drug Recognition Expert course hosted by the Department of Public Safety in Prescott Valley from March 31 to April 20, 2022. The three-week class attracted instructors and students from law enforcement agencies all over the state of Arizona, and as far as Alaska. … when we were kids, we frequently would lie back on the grass and spend time looking up at the clouds … seeing what forms we could see in them and wondering what lie above them … I have never stopped looking up and with some frequency turn my lens up to capture this beautiful and transitory beauty. The Cottonwood Community Band, under the direction of Jeff Bowell, is pleased to announce their spring concert to be held on Sunday, May 1, at 3:00 PM at the Phillip England Center for the Performing Arts in Camp Verde. The city of Sedona seeks a few dedicated individuals to serve as volunteer park rangers. The Sedona Volunteer Park Rangers choose their own workdays, performing a variety of tasks including providing a uniformed presence in Uptown answering visitor questions, performing park patrols, occasionally doing light trail maintenance, assisting the Parks and Recreation Department with community events and assisting hikers using the new Sedona Shuttle.The city’s ranger program has been serving the community and its visitors for over 16 years.
