In response to the deepening Ukrainian refugee crisis, The Rotary Foundation Trustees have prioritized contributions made to its Disaster Response Fund until April 30, 2022, to support disaster response grants for Rotary districts affected by these events. These expedited disaster response grants can be used to supply water, food, medicine, shelter, and clothing. Rotary Clubs of Sedona, Sedona Village, Sedona Red Rocks, and Verde Valley contributed a total of $9,100 to the response fund. The Verde Valley Fire District is seeking application to fill a vacant Fire Board seat. The position became available when Board Member Matthew Kaempfe moved out of state. Applications for this Board seat are available at the Verde Valley Fire District Administrative Offices located at 2700 E Godard Rd in Cottonwood. Spring has sprung in Northern Arizona and the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents to be safe while hiking. On March 22, YCSO Deputies along with The Verde Search and Rescue (SAR) Team, had a busy night in Sedona. At approximately 6pm the first call in what turned out to be a string of disoriented adventurers, came in to YCSO dispatch from a hiker gone off course on Doe Mountain. On March 19, 2022 at approximately 10:30 pm, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrested Cordes Lakes resident Michael Basso for six counts of aggravated assault, six counts of endangerment, disorderly conduct, reckless discharge of a firearm, discharging a firearm at a residential structure and criminal damage.Around 10 pm Basso’s neighbor made a call to 911 reporting a male subject was shooting at her residence where she and her three children were home.
