My First Sedona Vortex Experience…Mind Blowing! I Loved it!

Sedona, AZ — The first time I experienced a Sedona vortex, I knew I was entering a place that people spoke of with reverence, often calling it a “spiritual haven.” While I was curious about Sedona’s famed vortexes and their energy, I was also a little skeptical. I wasn’t exactly the type to dive into mystical experiences—I approached them cautiously, with a blend of intrigue and skepticism. But, like many, I had heard so much about these energetic hotspots, places where the earth’s energy was said to swirl, intensify, and awaken deeper feelings within those who were open to it. I wanted to experience it for myself.

My first experience of a Sedona Vortex vortex.

Anticipation

As I drove up to the Airport Mesa Vortex, located just a short distance from the heart of Sedona, I felt a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation. The sun was beginning to rise, casting a warm, golden light over the red rocks that surrounded me. The drive itself was beautiful, with the winding roads and awe-inspiring views. I kept glancing out my window, trying to take in every detail. Even before I parked, I could feel a unique stillness in the air—a sensation that was hard to define, but noticeable all the same.

Arrival

When I finally parked and got out, the view from Airport Mesa was breathtaking. From that vantage point, you get a panoramic view of Sedona’s red rock landscape, with its vibrant hues and dramatic formations stretching as far as the eye can see. I took a deep breath, feeling the crisp morning air fill my lungs, and allowed myself a moment to just appreciate the beauty of the place.

Though it was early, a few other people were already there. Some seemed to be meditating, sitting cross-legged on the rocks, eyes closed, immersed in their own world. Others were simply taking in the view, smiling to themselves as if they’d stumbled upon a personal revelation. Watching them only added to my curiosity. What were they feeling? Did they sense something special? I hoped I would, too.

As I settled onto a smooth rock, I tried to quiet my mind. I had read that Sedona’s vortexes, including Airport Mesa, were said to be “upflow” or masculine energy sites, which supposedly help foster a sense of strength, ambition, and clarity. I was intrigued by the idea, though I wasn’t quite sure how much I believed in it. But as I closed my eyes, breathed deeply, and focused on the earth beneath me, something shifted.

What I felt

At first, I felt nothing but the warmth of the sun on my face. But as I sat there longer, I started to feel a kind of gentle vibration. It was subtle—almost like a low hum resonating from the rocks beneath me. I felt more grounded and centered than I had in a long time, as if a current was pulling me gently, encouraging me to sink deeper into myself. My heart rate slowed, and my breathing became more rhythmic. I could feel my body relaxing, tensions melting away.

I began to notice the small details around me—the sound of a distant bird call, the faint breeze rustling the leaves, the warmth radiating from the rocks. The longer I sat there, the more intense my experience became. I had come with no expectations, yet here I was, feeling an unfamiliar sense of peace and clarity wash over me.

My thoughts drifted to things I hadn’t given attention to in a while—dreams I had set aside, intentions I had half-formed but never fully committed to. As I sat in that moment of stillness, I felt a surge of motivation to realign my life with those forgotten goals. It was as if the energy at Airport Mesa was amplifying my intentions, giving me a sense of courage and conviction I hadn’t felt in a long time.

After what felt like hours—but was probably only about thirty minutes—I finally opened my eyes. Everything around me seemed sharper, more vibrant. The red rocks were a deeper shade of crimson, and the sky a clearer blue. It was as though my senses had been heightened, attuned to the subtle beauty of the world around me.

My take away

As I made my way back to my car, I felt lighter, as though a burden I hadn’t even been aware of had been lifted from my shoulders. I hadn’t expected to feel so changed by the experience. I had come to Airport Mesa hoping to understand the phenomenon of the Sedona vortexes. Instead, I walked away with a deeper understanding of myself and a renewed sense of purpose.

In the days that followed, I found myself thinking back to that morning on the mesa. I realized that while the energy at Airport Mesa may have had something to do with my experience, a big part of it was simply being open—open to stillness, open to listening, open to reconnecting with parts of myself that I had lost touch with. Sedona’s vortexes may be powerful, but it is our willingness to let go and be present that allows us to truly experience their magic.

Summary

Reflecting back on that experience now, I can see why Sedona is considered one of the top spiritual destinations in the world. It’s not just about the energy in the ground; it’s about the invitation to pause, breathe, and remember who we are. For me, Airport Mesa was a place of awakening, a catalyst for change that I didn’t know I needed. And as I left Sedona, I knew I’d be back, seeking that feeling once again.
