The Mary D. Fisher Theatre is proud to present the acclaimed new film “The Midnight Sky” showing Dec. 18-23.
Academy Award-winner George Clooney directs and stars in “The Midnight Sky” along with a stellar ensemble cast, including Felicity Jones, Kyle Chandler and David Oyelowo.
The film is the big-screen adaptation of Lily Brooks-Dalton’s acclaimed novel “Good Morning, Midnight”.

Augustine Lofthouse (George Clooney), a scientist located at a Space Station in the Arctic, tries to contact Sully (Felicity Jones) and her crew of astronauts, including Mitchell (Kyle Chandler) and Adewole (David Oyelowo), to warn them of a global catastrophe. The astronauts were sent out to look for another planet that would be able to support life.
Augustine believes he’s the only one left alive on Earth, until he finds a little girl named Iris (Caoilinn Springall). He decides to take Iris along on a trip through the blizzard conditions to find a stronger antenna that he believes will be able to reach the astronauts, before it’s too late.

The Sedona Film Festival is proud to present a special holiday encore of “The Man Who Invented Christmas” showing Dec. 18-23 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre.
Based on the inspiring true story, “The Man Who Invented Christmas” — a delightful and heartwarming family film and holiday favorite — returns to theaters to spread the joy of the season.
The film features an all-star, award-winning ensemble cast including Christopher Plummer, Dan Stevens and Jonathan Pryce.
“The Man Who Invented Christmas” tells the magical journey that led to the creation of Ebenezer Scrooge (Christopher Plummer), Tiny Tim and other classic characters from A Christmas Carol.
In 1843 London, author Charles Dickens (Dan Stevens) finds himself in financial trouble after writing three unsuccessful novels in a row.
The film shows how Dickens mixed real life inspirations with his vivid imagination to conjure up unforgettable characters and a timeless tale, forever changing the holiday season into the celebration we know today.

The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present “A Christmas Carol” — the holiday treasure — on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre.
A Victorian family prepares a toy-theatre for their annual performance of “A Christmas Carol”. The audience enters the imagination of one of the children and quickly the cardboard stage transforms to reveal a magical world containing real dancers and stylized sets.
The classic tale unfolds on screen in a rich tapestry of highly absorbing, haunting, and theatrical drama with characters portrayed by dancers and voiced by an eclectic cast of the world’s most recognizable actors, including Carey Mulligan, Daniel Kaluuya, Andy Serkis, Martin Freeman, and Simon Russell Beale.
In “A Christmas Carol”, Dickens wrote one of literature’s most perfectly constructed stories — a simple and moving tale of redemption that has struck a chord with audiences worldwide, having been translated into almost every conceivable language.

Film Festival hosts Ballet in Cinema: ‘The Nutcracker’ Dec. 20
Bolshoi Ballet production from Moscow returns to the big screen at Fisher Theatre
Come and experience a holiday treasure! The Sedona International Film Festival presents Ballet in Cinema on Sunday, Dec. 20 when it hosts the big screen encore of “The Nutcracker” from the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow. There will be one show at 4:00 p.m. at the festival’s Mary D. Fisher Theatre.
Christmas would not be complete without the enchanting tale of young Marie and her Nutcracker prince! E.T.A. Hoffmann’s fairytale staged by Russian ballet master Yuri Grigorovich will transport children and adults alike to a world of magic and wonder for the holiday season.
“The Nutcracker” invites audiences of all ages on a magical journey, through a world of enchantment, complete with dancing snowflakes and dolls that have come to life, accompanied by Tchaikovsky’s beloved score.
On Christmas Eve, Marie is given a wooden nutcracker as a gift. When the clock strikes midnight and the celebrations are over, all the toys come to life. The Nutcracker — at the helm of the tin soldiers — transforms and saves Marie from the Mouse King and his army.
After victoriously defeating the mouse army, the Nutcracker — now a handsome young prince — whisks Marie away into their magic boat to the Land of Sweets. Marie and the Nutcracker-Prince are radiant with happiness: they have reached the kingdom of their dreams. Joyous celebrations can now begin. Yet, it appears it was all just a dream.

A young woman wishes to fulfill her mother’s dream of opening her own bakery in Notting Hill, London. To do this, she enlists the help of an old friend and her grandma.
Bereavement unites three generations of women in a commercial baking business which offers newfound understanding, romantic opportunities and a celebration of multiculturalism.
The women are Sarah’s daughter, Clarissa (Shannon Tarbet), a dancer; her estranged mother Mimi (Celia Imrie), a former circus proprietor and performer; and her best friend Isabella (Shelley Conn), her business partner in the West London bakery which they hoped to open.
“Love Sarah” is a well-meaning exploration of female friendship, and of the cultural significance of cuisine.
