What the cam shows
The camera sits on the deck of the House of Seven Arches, above Sedona, so the view takes in the red rock formations and the sky over town. It is a live feed, which makes it useful for the things no forecast tells you: whether the storm has cleared, how much snow is on the rocks, and what the sunset is doing right now. On a monsoon afternoon in July or August it is also the best free lightning show in Arizona. Who is behind it
The cam belongs to Terrie Frankel, a Sedona community luminary, actress, author, composer and playwright, who opened her deck to the world so that anyone could see Sedona live. She began performing at six with her identical twin sister Jennie, and the two are best known for the Doublemint Twins chewing gum commercials of the mid-sixties. They toured Vietnam with the USO in 1968, performed in Hollywood and became New York Times bestselling authors. Terrie received the Vietnam Veterans of America President’s Award for Excellence in the Arts in 2014, an honor previously given to Raquel Welch, Nancy Sinatra, Johnny Rivers and Bob Hope, served as an Honorary Commander of two squadrons of the 944th Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base, and in 2016 received the Diane Jones Woman of the Year Award and the C.C. Porter Award of Compassion.
