… early this morning I headed down to Lake Pleasant to spend a quiet day on the lake and as always to search for life and photograph what I found. It was a busy morning and lots of life.
In these three photographs all of the subjects are reaching for the sky … leaping and stretching their wings to begin the first of many powerful beats; first to attain flight and then to maintain it and go somewhere.The feet of the Great Blue Heron above are just about to leave the water and both eagle shots show the talons just breaking free of the rock perch they were on.
The first eagle below is a juvenile and the one below it is an adult male. Bald Eagles do not display the iconic white head and tail feathers until they are about five years old.
Off to shoot flowers again in the morning and possibly a return to the lake on Friday … the Saguaro Cacti are in bloom and are beautiful.
Have a beautiful day … find joy in your daily visit here!
Cheers,
Ted
Though the world knows me not, may my thoughts
and actions be such as shall keep me friendly with
myself. Lift my eyes from the earth, and let me not
forget the uses of the stars.
Give me a few friends who will love me for what I am;
and keep ever burning before my vagrant steps the
kindly light of hope.
