Rene at Tlaquepaque

Rene has been Tlaquepaque’s fine dining room since 1978, when it opened as one of the village’s first tenants, and it remains the most formal meal in Sedona: stone courtyards, fountains, career staff and a French-leaning menu that still flies in Dover sole. Since 2022 it has belonged to Mercer’s Kitchen Group, the local company behind Mesa Grill, Creekside Bistro and Rascal, with Chef Mercer Mohr overseeing the kitchen and Executive Chef Manuel Medrano running it.

What to Order

• Roasted double lamb chops ($89): three double chops in a mustard and herb crust with a rosemary lamb demi-glace, the dish the restaurant is known for.
• Dover sole meuniere ($88), flown in from Europe, with brown butter, capers and an English pea puree.
• French classics to start: onion soup gratinee ($21), escargot ($26), steak tartare ($34), lobster bisque ($36), seared foie gras ($48).
• Roast duck and confit ($68), veal osso buco ($82), a 16-ounce prime ribeye ($89), and flaming Bananas Rene for two ($32) to finish.
• A three-course prix fixe runs $120 to $156 depending on the main, with a wine pairing for $68.

Prices are from the winter 2026 menus posted in September 2026. Credit cards carry a 3 percent surcharge; debit cards do not. Lunch is lighter and cheaper: Monte Cristo, croque monsieur and the Kobe burger at $24, crepes at $19.

Good to Know

• Open seven days: lunch noon to 3:30, dinner 3:30 to 9. Walk-ins welcome at both; reservations by phone or OpenTable for dinner.
• Resort casual, and the dining room is for grown-ups: child seating, strollers, toys and electronic devices are not permitted inside. Families are pointed to the sister restaurants.
• The courtyard patio is dog friendly, weather and availability permitting; call ahead.
• Awards on the wall: Distinguished Restaurants of North America 2025 (the only one in Sedona), Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, AAA Three Diamonds, and Sedona’s most romantic restaurant in the local vote.
• The kitchen now cooks with avocado oil rather than seed oils, and there is a secret menu if you ask.
