Verde Adventures, now trading as Sedona Adventure Tours, is the outfitter behind the Water to Wine tour: an inflatable kayak trip down the Verde River that ends at Alcantara Vineyard for a tasting, which is as good a Sedona day off the rocks as there is. The company has worked the river for about 14 years and bases itself at the vineyard on Grapevine Way in Cottonwood. Beyond Water to Wine it runs kayak, tubing, paddling, rafting and stand-up paddleboard trips, e-bike pedal tours, self-guided wine tastings, bachelorette and group charters, and kayak rentals with shuttles.

What to Know Before You Book

  • Most adventures take two to three hours. Water to Wine is about 90 minutes of paddling in a total of two to two and a half hours, and third-party listings price it from about $181 per person including the kayak, paddle, life vest and a credit at the winery; the company’s own prices are on its booking calendar.
  • Trips run seasonally on select dates; the river and the weather decide.
  • Minimum age 3 for any boat; children under 8 ride tandem with an adult; wine tours are not recommended for children, and tasting requires ID.
  • No refund inside 48 hours without trip protection.
