The city of Sedona’s Public Works Department will begin construction on shade structures and playground improvements at Posse Grounds Park, on May 31, 2022, in conjunction with Play it Safe Playgrounds Inc., Precision Construction LLC and Flex Ground Inc. As such, the playground area will be closed for approximately 120 days as new features are installed including slides, swings, climbing boards, a catwalk, rope ladders, a cyclone spinner, rubberized flexground, and shade structures over the new playground and bleachers along the adjacent field.

The new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) playground design will be inclusive by nature inviting children of all abilities to play together. The rubberized playground surface will be ADA accessible so as not to eliminate anyone (adult or child) from being able to use the park. By installing the weather/sun protective shade structures, it will increase the life of the playground equipment by providing protection from inclement weather and sun as well as providing the same protection to the users of the playground equipment.

The city reminds residents that there is a playground and Splash Pad in Sunset Park; additionally, the multi-use field and Recreation Room at Posse Grounds Park will remain open during construction.

For more on this project call the city’s Public Works Department at (928) 204-7111 or email Facilities Maintenance Manager Larry Farhat at lfarhat@sedonaaz.gov.
