Starting next week, the city of Sedona will begin construction of a new, 10-foot wide, shared-use pathway that will run along the north side of Chapel Road, from State Route 179 to Fox Road.
This new pathway will allow pedestrians and bicyclists to travel safely and will be separated from traffic by a rock-lined ditch or curb. Construction activities will also include the replacement of disturbed driveway entrances and drainage improvements along the project corridor.
Following this project, parking will no longer be allowed on the north side of Chapel Road on a permanent basis. To accommodate this change, a new parking lot is being planned at the Mystic Trail Trailhead in conjunction with the United States Forest Service. The new parking lot will also serve as a shuttle stop for the City’s transit service. The shared-use path project is scheduled to be complete in summer 2022, with construction of the new parking lot starting at a later date.
Work may occur Monday through Thursday, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Please be aware of heavy equipment, lane restrictions, reduced speeds, loud noise and flagging operations along Chapel Road.
