… this is a really beautiful place we live and the photo above displays the elegance that draws so many of us here. The view is from just east of Chapel Rock, which is in the foreground and just behind it is the upper and lower loop area. The road that can be seen crossing the side of the hill on the right side is Upper Loop Road and just above it is the High School complex. above and to the right of the high school is the iconic Cockscomb formation. Below the skyline from the left is Black Mountain, the Gap and Casner Mountain and near the base of Casner Mountain you can see Robbers Roost rock. On the far right the mountain protruding almost to the top of the image is Bill Williams Mountain. The green belt going behind Chapel Rock is where Oak Creek is wending its way down to its confluence with the Verde River north of SR 260 at about Thousand Trails.
The photo below is a Great Egret taking off with a beautiful Arizona blue sky behind it … I love the abundance of wildlife we have here … never tires me and each time I go out hunting for birds and critters to shoot I never know what I will find … there is excitement and surprise.
Finishing up the article for the April issue of Sedona Monthly and it will be on the raptors of Sedona and the Verde Valley … if you don’t get the magazine you should subscribe; it is the best publication of and about all things Sedona.
If you have a little time to spare late Tuesday afternoon, I will be doing a presentation in the Sedona City Council Chambers 4:30PM … not long, but about 25 superb photos of Sedona and some wildlife in the area. They call it a Moment of Art. Look forward to seeing you there.
Also save dates in March for my performance/presentation at the Mary Fisher Theater in Sedona. March 25th at 7PM and March 26th at 4PM. Michele will have Leroy, a fantastic Harris’s Hawk at each performance and possibly Finley the American Kestrel who was there at last Septembers show. A favorite photo of Leroy is here. A favorite photo of Finley is here.Favorite photo of Finley is here.
Have an absolutely beautiful day today as we kick off another week … cannot think of any reason it should not be good … checklist; breathing? capable of a smile? anyone to share your joy with?
O SWEET content! where is thy mild abode
Where I may dwell in endless peace?
Show me the much-sought road
And give the lease.
The answer came, “Then cease to vainly roam
In search of me, for thou wilt find
My quiet hidden home
Within thy mind.”
