… Leroy a Harris’s Hawk is sweeping a field north of Flagstaff in search of a bunny or other critter that will provide sustenance and allow him to keep on flying. Lucky for him he is one of Michele’s birds on her educational permit and if he doesn’t score, he still gets to eat … not so for his brethren who live in the wild and are totally dependent on their hunting skills to survive.

If you would like to have an experience with Leroy, Finley or the others contact Michele through her website: International Raptor & Falconry Center There are many ways to participate and if you would like to do a one on one photography workshop with me, you can book it through Michele. All proceeds go directly to the IRFC; it is something I do for the organization. There are a lot of techniques involved in getting shots like these and I will be happy to help you get there.

The Great Blue Heron below decided we were infringing on his hunting grounds and left for a safe space … a place where he could hunt and not have large glass eyes looking at him. In not that many hours we’ll be back down at the lake and looking for him and to be honest, anything with wings … or legs … time for coyotes who have been fishing and my cougar who has proven to be elusive so far … the hunt!! It continues.

Have an absolutely beautiful day … we are here and breathing.

With joy,

Ted

Love some one—in God’s name love some one—for this is the bread of the inner life, without which a part of you will starve and die; and though you feel you must be stern, even hard, in your life of affairs, make for yourself at least a little corner, somewhere in the great world, where you may unbosom and be kind.
