Oak Creek Brewing Company is Sedona’s oldest microbrewery, opened in February 1995 by the Kraus family after Fred Kraus trained at a brewery in Pottenstein, Germany, and it has two very different homes. The Oak Creek Brewery and Grill at Tlaquepaque is the restaurant, with a second-story patio looking at the red rocks and the house beers brewed on site in copper tanks you can see from the bar. The original brewery on Yavapai Drive in West Sedona is the taproom and beer garden, with a fire pit, live music and pizza from Zen Dough’s next door.

The Beers

Seven house beers pour at the Grill at $7.50 for 14 ounces or $9 for 20: Forty-Niner Gold Lager and Village Nut Brown Ale (both North American Brewers’ Association gold medalists), Horseshoe Hefeweizen (Great American Beer Festival gold), Doc’s Pale Ale, Snake Charmer IPA, Oak Creek Amber Ale and Pullman Porter. The Seven Dwarves sampler, seven four-ounce steins, is $14. The Nut Brown is the flagship; malt comes from Sinagua Malt in Camp Verde, and the beers are sold at Whole Foods and Safeway.

Oak Creek Brewery and Grill, Tlaquepaque

Open daily 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; closed Thanksgiving and Christmas, early close on Christmas Eve and Super Bowl Sunday. No reservations, first come first served.
Food: Oak Creek hot wings $21, brew pub pretzels $12, Southwest mac and cheese $13, the Mushroom Brie or Smokehouse burger $21, the Tlaquepaque burger $19, the Brewmaster’s Bomber bratwurst $18, Red Rock Reuben $21, 14-inch pizzas $25, fish and chips $19, a 16-ounce bone-in ribeye $46, ribs $25 half or $35 full, ale-infused French onion soup $5 a cup.
Happy hour Monday to Friday 3 to 5: $5 drafts, $5 house wine, $8 house margarita, half-price appetizers.

Oak Creek Brewing Co. taproom, West Sedona

Opens at noon most days and at 2 on Mondays, closing at 8 on weeknights and 10 on Friday and Saturday; the website’s posted hours have a typo or two, so call before an early visit.
Happy hour daily 4 to 7. Mug Club membership is $50 a year with refills at $6.25, or $5.25 at happy hour.
Live music Friday and Saturday nights and some Sundays, karaoke Tuesdays 8 to 11. Twelve taps: four house beers and eight Arizona guest taps.
Zen Dough’s pizza kitchen runs limited hours, in summer Tuesday to Saturday afternoons.
